For Families

Physician-Directed Medical Interpretation for Adoption Decisions

In adoption and foster care, medical documentation may be brief — yet the decisions that follow are significant.

Families may receive prenatal or delivery summaries, NICU notes, or pediatric visit records containing complex medical terminology without the full clinical context.

Adoption Health Review provides a structured, physician-directed interpretation of the documentation you have received so you can better understand what is documented — and where uncertainty remains.

If you were referred by your agency or attorney, you are in the right place.

When Families Seek Consultation

Families commonly request consultation when:

Reviewing a referral or potential match

Medical summaries feel brief or difficult to interpret

Prenatal complications or exposures are documented

A NICU hospitalization is noted

Pediatric diagnoses raise questions

They would like an independent medical perspective before making a decision

Medical consultation is not required for adoption. However, some families choose to have a physician’s interpretation to better understand the documentation they have received.

How the Consultation Process Works

Recognizing the time-sensitive nature of adoption decisions, we make every effort to complete the review and schedule the consultation within 3–5 business days of secure document submission.

If expedited review is needed, please indicate this at the time of booking. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your request.
