About

Adoption Health Review

Adoption Health Review provides structured, physician-directed medical interpretation services for families and professionals navigating adoption and foster-care-related medical documentation.

Adoption medical records can be complex,  technical, or presented without a full clinical context. Our role is to provide a careful review of the submitted documentation and a thoughtful discussion of the documented findings and areas of uncertainty.

We believe medical interpretation in adoption should be clear, transparent, and grounded in clinical reasoning.

Medical Direction

Adoption Health Review is directed by Dayna Smith, MD, a board-certified OB-GYN physician with over twenty years of clinical experience.

Our physician team includes expertise in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and, when appropriate, subspecialty neonatology consultation for NICU-related cases.

Our approach emphasizes clarity, transparency, and thoughtful discussion of documented findings and areas of uncertainty during the adoption decision process.

Why This Work Matters

Dr. Smith became interested in the adoption process after helping friends navigate the medical records component of their own adoption journey. Through that experience, she recognized how often families are asked to interpret complex medical documentation within meaningful timelines and without a full clinical context.

She saw an opportunity to provide structured physician-directed interpretation to help families better understand what is documented — and where uncertainty remains.

Adoption Health Review was created to provide that clarity in a professional, measured, and transparent manner.

Our Approach

Consultations are educational in nature and based solely on the documentation provided.

Our goal is to provide clarity, transparency, and simplified interpretation of the medical language.

We do not predict outcomes.

We do not eliminate uncertainty.

We provide structured medical interpretation grounded in clinical experience.
